Pixel Rank Tracking shows how far down the search results page your keyword actually appears, measured in pixels from the top of the page, instead of just a numeric position. A keyword sitting at position 3 can still be pushed well below the fold by ads, an AI Overview, or other search features, so two keywords with the same numeric rank can have very different real world visibility. Pixel Rank Tracking is currently available on Enterprise plans.
What Pixel Rank Tracking Measures
Pixel distance is the vertical space between the top of the search results page and the spot where your listing actually shows up. Numeric position tells you that you rank third, but it doesn't tell you what's sitting above you. Ads, an AI generated answer, a People Also Ask box, or a featured snippet can all take up space above your listing without changing your numeric rank at all. Pixel Rank Tracking captures that space, so you can see how visible a ranking really is, not just where it sits in the list.
Where to Find It
Pixel Rank Tracking lives under Analyze and Audit in your Ubersuggest sidebar, grouped with Rank Tracking, Competitor Analysis, and Project Settings. It currently carries a Beta tag while it's still being refined. You'll need an active project before it can show any data. If your account doesn't have a project yet, the page currently just asks you to select one, so create a project first from your dashboard, then come back to see your pixel rankings.
Once you're in the report, a Desktop and Mobile toggle lets you check pixel visibility separately for each, the same way Rank Tracking does.
Pixel Rank Tracking isn't automatically active just because a project already has Rank Tracking data. The first time you open it for a project, you may see a prompt saying "Pixel rank tracking is off," with an Enable pixel rank tracking button. You need to click that to turn it on for that project. Once enabled, data collection begins with your project's next scheduled ranking update, it won't appear immediately.
How It Compares to Rank Tracking
Pixel Rank Tracking doesn't replace Rank Tracking. It uses the same tracked keywords and project data, just shown through a different lens.
| Rank Tracking | Pixel Rank Tracking | |
|---|---|---|
| What it shows | Your numeric position in Google (1, 2, 3, and so on) | How far down the page, in pixels, your listing appears |
| What it accounts for | Position only | Ads, AI Overviews, and other elements that push listings down the page |
| Groups your keywords into | Top 3, Top 10, Top 100, Not Ranked | Above the fold, Below the fold, Not ranking, plus an overall Above the fold visibility score |
| Device view | Desktop and Mobile | Desktop and Mobile |
| Keywords tracked | The keywords in your project | The same keywords in your project |
| Where it lives | Analyze and Audit | Analyze and Audit |
Because both reports pull from the same tracked keywords, you don't need to add or re-import any keywords to use Pixel Rank Tracking. You do need to turn it on for each project the first time, though, see the Enable pixel rank tracking step above. Once it's on, pixel data is only available for keywords your domain already ranks for, and it appears after your project's next scheduled ranking update rather than the moment you enable it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pixel Rank Tracking? It's a report that shows how far down the search results page your ranking keyword actually appears, measured in pixels, instead of just showing a numeric position like 1st or 3rd. It's currently labeled Beta while it's still being refined.
Why don't I see Pixel Rank Tracking in my account? It's currently available on Enterprise plans only. If you don't see it under Analyze and Audit in your sidebar, your current plan likely doesn't include it yet.
Do I need to add my keywords again to use it? No. Pixel Rank Tracking uses the same keywords and project data as your regular Rank Tracking report. You do need to turn the feature on for each project the first time, see the next question.
Why does it say "Pixel rank tracking is off"? This means the feature hasn't been turned on for this specific project yet. Click Enable pixel rank tracking to start collecting data. It doesn't turn on automatically just because the project already has Rank Tracking data.
Why does my report say it's still collecting pixel data? This shows up after you've enabled Pixel Rank Tracking but before your project's next scheduled ranking update has run. Pixel data appears once that update completes, so check back after it does.
Can I check pixel rankings for mobile searches separately from desktop? Yes. The report has a Desktop and Mobile toggle, the same way Rank Tracking does.
Why does Pixel Rank Tracking say to select a project? This means your account doesn't have a project set up yet. Create one from your dashboard first, and the report will load your pixel rankings from there.
Can I compare my pixel position against a competitor? Not yet. Right now Pixel Rank Tracking only shows your own pixel position.
Does it show how my pixel position has changed over time? There's an Above-the-fold visibility over time chart built into the report, but it needs your project to go through a few ranking updates before it has enough data to display a trend.
